Project: Tote Bag Graphic
Client: Northern Michigan University Dining
Goal: Create a design for a tote bag that will make people want to wear it around to promote NMU Dining.
Problem: People are tired of seeing NMU Dining on everything. No one wants to wear around merch that is just about that, they want it to say something else.
Solution: With this tote design, I got rid of the usual “NMU Dining” logo and made something more fun and exciting that people can relate to. Because they eat at NMU Dining, they are “Too Fresh To Stress.” The final product is a fun way to make a free promotional tote bag feel more personal and expressive.
Concepts and Sketches
1. Sketch for final design.
2. Original concept. The problem was that the word was hard to read and the fruit and vegetables didn’t come across as intended. I also realized that the lowest row of letter sort of spelled out a word that would be inappropriate for the audience that would be receiving them (college students).
3. This tagline was deemed unacceptable because it sounded like it was putting people down. I came up with “Too Fresh to Stress” and that stuck.
